Kingmaker Calls It Quits

Illinois based hardcore/punk band, Kingmaker, announced today that after six years, they’re calling it quits.
It’s sad to see band’s quit, but it’s even sadder to see bands that have been around for nearly a decade end it. Today, the band announced on their Facebook page, they’re done for.

After nearly 6 amazing years of playing music, making friends and traveling the country, we have decided that the time has come to officially end Kingmaker. This decision does not come hastily but rather with the utmost careful consideration that it is no longer feasible for Kingmaker to continue our time as a band.

Among the endless list of people that we owe thanks to for supporting our endeavors, no thanks will be enough to those who have continued to support our band and listened to the music we have created from the early days of Catacomb to The Cradle. For your undying patronage, you’ll never know how much it meant to all of us.

It’s no secret that our constant change in sound and members over the years have turned off many devoted listeners of our early music and while we sympathize with those who are so passionate about those records and that time period, one of the things that has made this experience so unique is the constant propensity for change and the willingness to abide by challenges both in the how the band is run to how the music is created and looking back, it’s not something that any of us would change. Thank you to all who were willing to explore those unfamiliar territories with us.

This will not be the end of the five of us playing music together. Though Kingmaker is over, our passion for writing and performing music is not and as we plan to take some time off to attend to personal lives, we plan to be back and create something new again in the near future; we hope you’ll be a part of it.

The duration of our time as a band is full of incredible experiences and far too many friends to list that are owed thanks but to anyone and everyone that was involved with this band, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts (especially an enormous, eternal thanks to Danny & Mary Clemenson). The help and support we have received from everyone who has listened to our band and supported what we do have made our time in Kingmaker something we will never forget.

Our last show will be on October 16th at the Borg Ward in Milwaukee, WI with our friends in Barrier, Left Behind and Township.

Keep looking forward to the best days.

If you’re in Milwaukee, definitely make it out to that show; I can imagine it’ll be fucking great.
