Genre(s): Death Metal/Thrash Metal

Location: Abergavenny

PSAB: How did the band name “NOCHAA” come to be?

NOCHAA: Guitarist, Dan, created it, as he thought it seemed like a great name for a metal band. It’s pronounced “knock – cha”.

PSAB: You went on hiatus in 2010 and recently came back this year. Why did you go on hiatus, and what made you decide to start back up again?

NOCHAA: Originally, things were going well for us, and we were scouted by some major labels, but problems began to arise surrounding the commitment of our original vocalist. With question marks continuing to surround our vocal position, a few of us acquired full time jobs, and Matt, one of our guitarists went back to Uni. Dan, guitarist, and Barry, drums, have been playing music together since they were teenagers, so it was only a matter of time before NOCHAA got the ball rolling again.

PSAB: You’re currently working on a new album. Will this album be similar to your older album, Tortured To Death?

NOCHAA: Our next release will actually be an EP, entitled “God Dethroned”. It’s release is tentative for early 2015. Expect a heavier, more mature sound, in line with “death metal”, as opposed to what was offered with Tortured To Death.

PSAB: How’s the metal scene in Abergavenny?

NOCHAA: The metal scene in Wales, in general, isn’t bustling. Prior to acquiring our new vocalist, we played some shows in the summer of 2013, and the turnouts were not that great, however, we played a show with fellow Welsh act, Astroid Boyz, in a Teleford, England based nightclub, and had some unbelievable pits. That restored our faith in the UK scene.

PSAB: What plays the most influence on your music? This can be non-music related.

NOCHAA: Our general inspiration plays more into bands that are heavy for the sake of being heavy, one’s general sense of anger at all that is wrong with the world.
