Interview with Knowthyself!

Genre(s): Cybergrind
PSAB: Where does the band name “Knowthyself” come from?
KTS: It’s a philosophy expression I heard when I took a philosophy class in college… It kinda just stuck you know? Hahaha. I thought it sounded sick and I like the meaning behind it too. Cause once you know thyself, then you can do anything pretty much haha.

PSAB: Why did you choose to be a one-man band over the traditional band route?

KTS: KTS is a solo thing because of a slight lack of other instrumentalists and time on my part. It’s what I do I guess haha.

PSAB: What bands play an influence on your music the most?

KTS: Bands like Conducting From The Grave, As Blood Runs Black, The Acacia Strain, Dying Fetus, Bring Me The Horizon, Carnifex and The Black Dahlia Murder all give me good inspiration. Oh, and lest we forget Suicide Silence and Whitechapel lol. Also Suicidal Tendencies, Agnostic Front and Slayer play a big par in my writing too.

PSAB: How is the local metal scene in Old Town, Goleta?

KTS: The local scene is pretty small right now. It’s mostly small shows and it’s all run by word of mouth pretty much. The people within the scene are all diehard to the core ya know?

PSAB: What are your plans for this year? New music?

KTS: I’m wrapping up my next full length entitled Mechanics of Murder. A whopping 14 tracks of cybergrind for everyone ha. I’m getting artwork down by Mikey Powell (Vocalist of Conducting From The Grave), so that’s going to be stoked. Once that’s over I’ve got another release planned that’s sure to piss off some people, but it’s my intention with that one 😉

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to give to the readers?

KTS: Keep supporting the underground, local and overall metal scenes. Buy (from) and support your favorite artists and promotion pages!
