Genre(s): Death Metal/Groove

Location: Rome

PSAB: Why was the name “Hellucination” chosen for your band?

Hellucination: Well it’s actually a name I came up with almost 5 years ago while I was bored during a class at the University. It sounded cool because it’s some kind of a play on words as you can tell, summing up the idea of hell being an hallucination therefore not real. I have to say that now it sounds not as cool as it did back then, but we still feel attached to it and lots of people find it cool, so it’s a keeper!

PSAB: How’s the feedback been for your new song “Exile The Deviant”? Also, what can we entirely expect from Katabasis in March?

Hellucination: The feedback’s been really good and we are very satisfied with it, since it’s our first “real” album (we just put out a self-produced EP 2 years ago) us and our friends and fans were really looking forward to finally hear those songs we’ve been playing for pretty much 3 years. And “Exile The Deviant” is a great anticipation for what you’ll hear on Katabasis when it comes out March 20th, which is basically our version of death metal with as many twists as possible to keep it fresh and not boring. There are some pretty diverse songs in there so hopefully it will be 45 minutes of solid heavy music.

PSAB: If you could tour any country, which country would that be?

Hellucination: I would obviously love to go overseas (for us) in the US since we see so many big tours happen in your homeland, but I’d also love to tour Germany, the UK and the Scandinavian zone, since metal is a pretty big deal in all those three places, unlinke in Italy.

PSAB: What’s the underground metal scene in Rome?

Hellucination: This kind of ties back to the previous question. Here metal isn’t really something appreciated by masses, so obviously there is an underground scene in the country and in Rome but it’s really not that good. Lots of talented bands but no real means to get them to play around the country or even abroad. And I have to say that the fans could be a little more supportive to bands since it seems like everybody comes out to see the big foreigntouring band, but just a few people come out to local shows.

PSAB: What are some things you do outside the band? Your hobbies.

Hellucination: In everyday life I am a university student currently majoring in psychology here in Rome, but apart from that, I love movies and cinema in general, big Game of Thrones and Scrubs fan, big football (soccer, I guess)fan(AS Roma ftw!) and basketball player, I listen to music whenever I’m not doing anything special, metal is my go to genre but I can dig some blues or rock as well. That’s pretty much it!

PSAB: Do you have any shout outs to give?

: Obviously thank you guys at Pig Squeals And Breakdowns for the interview and for supporting our beloved metal, big shout out to everybody that’s been jamming “Exile The Deviant” and in general everybody that’s been supporting us in any way over these past few years. Special thanks to Francesco Artusato and Enrico Schettino for the guest solos you will be able to check out when our album “Katabasis” will be out March 20th. Keep it metal! \m/
