Genre(s): Melodic Deathcore
Location: Nampa, ID

PSAB: Why did you choose the name “Forsythia” for your band?
Forsythia: At the time we were having a lot of trouble coming up with something
original, and overall just something that would be short and simple.
Besides being a breed of plant, It actually came up in a movie we were
watching at the time called “contagion”. It caught our eye and I knew it
was perfect for the idea we were going for.
PSAB: You recently released your debut EP Aversions on the 17th of May. Have
you received any feedback for it? If so, was it positive or negative?
Forsythia: So far the positive feedback has outweighed the negative. But for being
our first ever release, we’re pretty content with the outcome of the
criticism. There’s always room for improvement with every album a band
puts out. And because we’re just getting started, I feel like we can
only go up from here.
PSAB: Why did you choose to play the type of metal you play over the other
sub-genres of metal?
Forsythia: Its just something that came naturally to the writing process. Our
musical interests differ between every band member so I feel like that’s
what gave us somewhat of the diverse sound we were looking for as a
band.
PSAB: What is the local metal scene like in Nampa, Idaho?
Forsythia: I’ll try to keep this as short and simple as I can, but we basically
come from an area where local music has died down in the past five years
or so. Our neighbor city which is Boise, is where most of Idaho’s music
scene thrives. Due to a lack of venues and generally just people
interested in local music as of late, it has dwindled by a lot, so it
makes it a little harder to put your name out here as a band. There is
the exception of some awesome bands and booking managers that strive to
keep things going around here, so i give my respect and thanks towards
them.
PSAB: If you could have any musician featured on one of your tracks, which
musician would that be?
Forsythia: Honestly out of anyone I can think of, it’d probably be Aaron Marshall
of intervals. The guy has some killer talent that really stands out in
the genre they play and besides that, he’s a huge influence on me,
personally.
PSAB: Do you have anything to say to the readers out there?
Forsythia: We’re in the process of writing a full length that should be done and
recorded by early January of 2015, hopefully. Other than that we
appreciate you all taking a minute to read what we have to say, and
especially to pig squeals and breakdowns for the interview!
