Review: Cold Black – Circles

Cold Black is a metalcore/post-hardcore band from Copenhagen, Denmark. Having previously released their 5 track EP, they will now be releasing their full length album ‘Circles’ on the 18th of August. Their bio described that they would be going for a new sound to demonstrate the musical maturity they’ve developed. They’re calling it electronic-induced metalcore. Well, the melodic vocals are indeed impressive, and every song is actually quite soothing and without fault. I can imagine this new sound of theirs gaining a lot of new fans and possibly even becoming radio-friendly to mainstream music stations. However, I can also imagine this album repelling a lot of metalcore fans.

Review: Voice of Ruin – Purge and Purify

From Nyon, Switzerland, Voice of Ruin have recently released ‘Purge and Purify’ through Tenacity Music. Though the band’s style can accommodate several genres, it is clear that they will definitely strike a chord with fans of Lamb of God, Devildriver, Slipknot, and Arch Enemy. Having listened to the album many times, I see nothing but potential in the band’s future.

Review: Unleash The Archers – Apex

Canadian power-metallers Unleash The Archers will be releasing “Apex” on the 2nd of June, under their long-running label Napalm Records. They had first won me over with their second album Demons of The AstroWaste (2011) – I felt it was one of the few albums I enjoyed every single song on, so one can imagine how pleased I was to have the privilege to listen to their fourth installment.
